Title: Ministers send condolences to families of bus crash victims
--------------------

Pretoria - Cabinet Ministers have sent their condolences to the families and friends of those who died in a horrific bus accident in Piet Retief on Tuesday.

A bus, carrying 59 passengers from Piet Retief to the Mahlathini village, was involved in an accident when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. The cause of the accident is not yet known.

A total of 31 passengers died and many more were injured.

Speaking after Cabinet held its ordinary meeting on Wednesday, Government Spokesperson Themba Maseko said government was monitoring the situation and the provincial authorities were conducting an investigation into the incident.

Mpumalanga MEC for Roads and Transport in Mpumalanga, Jackson Mthembu on Wednesday visited the victims of the accident at the Piet Retief Hospital to wish them a speedy recovery.

Those who were slightly injured were admitted at the Piet Retief Hospital. Ten passengers were slightly injured and twelve were reported to be in a serious condition.

According the department, three of the six critical patients, were admitted to the Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg and three were transported to the Witbank Hospital.

Following the visit, Mr Mthembu said: "We are saddened and shocked. One life lost on the road is on life too many. It is even more painful and traumatic to lose more than 31 lived in one accident." - BuaNews
