Compiled by the Government Communication and Information System Date: 02 Jul 2009 Title: SA ready to deliver a successful world cup - Dlamini-Zuma -------------------- By Nthambeleni Gabara Cape Town - The success of the FIFA Confederations Cup shows that South Africa and the entire continent are ready to deliver a world-class 2010 FIFA World Cup next year. "The success of the Confederations Cup communicates a clear message that our country and its people and indeed the people of Africa stand ready to deliver a world-class 2010 FIFA World Cup," Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said on Wednesday. The minister was addressing the National Council of Provinces on her department's Budget Vote, which she tabled to the House last week. Dr Dlamini-Zuma also congratulated the five-time world champions, Brazil for winning the eight nation's tournament. The Brazilian retained the trophy after beating the United States of America 3-2 during a thriller match played at Coca-Cola Park, in Johannesburg on 28 June. The Samba boys also won the tournament in 2005 when the tournament was hosted in Germany. - BuaNews |
