Compiled by the Government Communication and Information System Date: 25 Aug 2009 Title: NW citizens can register businesses at local office -------------------- By Boitumelo Tshehle Rustenburg - Aspiring entrepreneurs in the North West will no longer have to travel to Pretoria to register their businesses, thanks to the establishment of a local Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office (CIPRO) in the province. Together with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, CIPRO has joined hands to make the business registration process of the North West community easier by creating a regional office in the province. This follows a service level agreement signed on Tuesday between CIPRO Chief Executive Officer Keith Sendwe and department MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela at a Women in Business Awareness campaign in Mogwase. The MEC said the department has partnered with CIPRO towards ensuring that aspiring SMME's and cooperatives will be able to access business registration services. "This service will be available and accessible to all aspiring entrepreneurs who must take advantage of this regionalised service and register their own enterprises," the MEC said. She said they should seek government and private sector interventions and assistance to grow and improve their lives. "Without enterprises and industries, the economy will not grow. Jobs will not be created, poverty will rise and sustainable livelihoods will not be achieved," the MEC said. Business funding companies like SEDA, SABS and Isivande Women funds also gave presentations to the gathering in order to enlighten them about the business opportunities available. About 200 business women had an opportunity to ask questions to company representatives, while others registered with CIPRO immediately after the event. - BuaNews |
