Compiled by the Government Communication and Information System Date: 05 Sep 2010 Title: Visiting hours restricted at Gauteng hospitals -------------------- Pretoria - The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development has put in place a restriction with regards to evening visiting hours at public hospitals during the ongoing public servants strike. This follows a spade of intimidation incidents of non striking staff members inside the hospital premises. "The department has the right to protect and safe guard the well being of their employees as well as those of patients who are under their care and treatment," the department said. Therefore the department is encouraging members of the community to visit their families and friends who are hospitalised during the day. "To make this possible, all hospitals will be flexible during the afternoon visiting hours to accommodate those who are only able to visit during the evening," the department said. - BuaNews |
