Compiled by the Government Communication and Information System Date: 04 May 2012 Title: Nqakula appointed as envoy to Mozambique -------------------- Pretoria - Political advisor to President Jacob Zuma, Charles Nqakula, has been appointed as High Commissioner designate to Mozambique, said the Presidency. Nqakula will assume his new duties on 1 June. He has led the President's Zimbabwe facilitation team and was also the President's special envoy to the Sudan. He is a former Minister of Defence and Minister of Safety and Security. He has also facilitated the peace process in Burundi where a ceasefire agreement was brokered. In 2000, he was part of the Parliamentary team led by the then Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Frene Ginwala, that was sent to Mozambique to assess flood damage in that country.
