Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has sent condolences to the Government and people of Kenya following Sunday's helicopter crash which killed a minister, his deputy and four other officials.

"On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of South Africa, I would like to convey my condolences to President Kibaki, the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the families of the deceased during this difficult time of mourning and sadness. Our hearts and prayers are with you as you mourn this tragic loss of life," said Zuma.

Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki has declared three days of national mourning after the crash which killed Internal Security Minister George Saitoti and his deputy Orwa Ojode, two pilots and two of the minister's bodyguards.

The six were heading to Ojode's home town for a fundraising service when their helicopter crashed on Sunday morning in Kibiku area in Ngong forest in the outskirts of Nairobi. - BuaNews- Xinhua
